Proof Reading:

• Work on error-correction through in-built programs: spelling and grammar checkers
• After basic errors are corrected, aim for clarity of message and exactitude of language (including your tenses and voice).
• Your sources should be double-checked just to make sure your facts are reliable; inaccuracy of content portrays the incompetency of the writer
• After correction of facts, work on the language. Although you worked on it in step two, here you have to focus on words instead of tenses. Is your vocabulary aligned with the level of assignment? Too much technical jargon or extreme simplicity of words is discouraged. So while at this step, keep in mind your target audience (usually your teacher) and write accordingly.
• Once all of these corrections are made, go over your essay again and scrutinize. You can never check it enough times. Keep in mind your problem areas (maybe punctuations) and focus on them.
