American psychological society writing style or commonly called as APA style is a documentation format used globally in both academia and publishing. APA was developed by the American Psychological Association to set a standard and research and writing papers, journals and publications. APA style has a uniform style of headings, formatting pages and citations along with referencing. APA style goes further to even design a standardized style for placement of tables, charts and other illustrations.

APA style is heavily dependent on the use of headings and the material that goes within. These headings define the flow of the paper and keep it consistently on the same format making it easier for the audience to read and understand. When on paper, APA style documents are printed mostly on a standard 8.5 X 11 paper with 1 inch margin left on every side. The most common used font is times new roman with size up to 12 points maximum.
