American Sociological Association (ASA) style

The American Sociological Association or ASA style is one the widest use research writing style used in university level papers. ASA style has an in depth emphasis on arrangement of paper elements, punctuation of footnotes and bibliographies. The American Sociological Society developed this style to bring all academic and published writing on to a single unified platform that should be the standard for writing.

ASA is a very flexible writing style with strong emphasis on attribution of influences and source materials used. In contrast ASA has fewer requirements then those of complex writing styles such as MLA. ASA draws strong influence from APA writing style in terms of referencing and works cited. It also limits the usage of footnotes and endnotes keeping the final form concise and clear.
